This is a link to a scholarly article on the Great White Cedar that lives in Sullivan Cove. If the hydrology of the tidal ponds are changed, the white cedars may be lost. It is a five page article that speaks of the unique habitat of Sullivan Cove where the rare Atlantic White cedar grove. Carrollton Manor and Sullivan Cove contain more than 94 percent of the Atlantic white-cedar seedlings on the western shore of Maryland. Cypress Creek Swamp and Sullivan Cove contain 51 percent of the mature trees. The skewed nature of the population data on these Atlantic white-cedar populations may reflect both their site history and natural quality.
