The Honorable Martin O'Malley
Office of the Governor
State House
Annapolis, MD21401
Dear Governor O'Malley,
A Sound Recommendation
Regarding Sullivan Cove
This week, I was pleased to receive this letter from the Anne Arundel County Executive, John Leopold. The letter, addressed to the Secretary of the MDE, Shari Wilson, recommends a hearing on this license before the Board of Public Works.
The Olde Severna Park Improvement Association appreciates the concern that our county executive has shown for the environment. We also thank him for encouraging Secretary Wilson to insure that the greater community is given an opportunity to weigh in on this issue in a public forum.
We are hopeful that other members of our local and state government and the entire Anne Arundel County Delegation will write similar letters to the Governor and the Secretary of the MDE. It only takes a little time and could make an immense difference in our collective fight to save Sullivan Cove from the bridges over tidal wetlands.
Remember, this issue is not about private property rights. It’s about a highly unusual request to build 400’ bridges over public water to reach proposed docks. The applicants have access to their proposed docks through the community facilities at Hatton Memorial Beach
Please give this request some thoughtful consideration. Future generations will thank you too!
Sincerely,
Ted Kinkel
